Partners and donors

Created in 1998, the Research Chair in Nursing Care for Older People and their Families is the first research chair in nursing care in Canada. As a philanthropic chair, its creation and sustainability were made possible thanks to the solid partnership and commitment of several generous donors.

The Chair originated from the partnership of the Faculty of Nursing of the Université de Montréal with the Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal including their Research Centre, presently part of the Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal.

In addition to the financial support received from our partners for its creation, the Chair has equally benefited since its inception from the generosity of religious communities, the Blue Cross of Quebec, the Guy-Sauvageau Fund, Merck Frosst Canada Inc. as well as from anonymous donors.

In May 2002, the Desjardins Group joined the Chair as a major benefactor. This important contribution constituted an essential step towards the continuity of the Chair. In recognition of their unwavering commitment to the mission of the Chair, an award was created: Desjardins Award for the New Generation in Nursing Care for Older People and their Family.

Other generous donors have equally contributed to the mission of the Chair facilitating the training of the new generation through the creation of funds for scholarships.

The mission of the Chair can be supported by becoming a donor.
