History of the Chair

 

As the first Canadian research chair in nursing, the Research Chair in Nursing Care for Older People and their Families is now considered permanent. Three chairholders have contributed to its mission through their research aimed at improving the quality of life of older people and their family care partners.

Distinguished Professor at the Faculty of Nursing

She has received numerous awards, including the Insigne du mérite from the Order of Canada, from the Ordre national du Québec and from the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ). 

Her work has greatly contributed to the development of knowledge in nursing care for the older people, including holding the first nursing research chair in Canada. 

Her book, Alzheimer, comprendre pour mieux aider, is one of her outstanding contributions.

She has received numerous awards, including the Insigne du mérite from the OIIQ and the Prix Femme de mérite from the Women's Y of Montreal

Holder of the Canada Research Chair in Care for Older People (2020-2025, renewed until 2030), the first Canada Research Chair in the Faculty of Nursing at Université de Montréal

Innovative achievements:

  • Development, testing and evaluation of the Décibels Intervention on the vocal behaviours of older people living with a major neurocognitive disorder
  • Projet Voix on the experience of family caregivers of people living in long-term care centers during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic: impacts on public policy.
