Scholarship and award

Thanks to the generosity of our donors for their invaluable commitment to the Chair

The Research Chair in Nursing Care for Older People and their Families offers scholarships and awards to students in the Master’s, PhD and postdoctoral programs in the Faculty of Nursing of the Université de Montréal.

To be eligible for a scholarship or award, the student must be supervised by the Chairholder and the project must focus on older people or their family.

SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are possible thank to the generosity of the donors that financially support the new generations in the field of nursing care for older people and their family:

  • Families Gagnon Thibaudeau scholarship

This scholarship is named after two exceptional persons; Mrs. Marthe Gagnon-Thibaudeau, a prolific businesswoman and author, and Mr. Jean Thibaudeau, a recognized engineer in Quebec and internationally. In their memory, the fund for this scholarship was created as a recognition of the competency, dedication and generosity of the nurses who marked their journey. The donors, Marie-France Thibaudeau and Marthe Céline Thibaudeau, strongly believe in the mission of the Chair. They are involved in the activities of the Chair as members of the Management Committee.

  • Monique et Guy Sauvageau scholarship

The quality of care provided to older people is a concern that drives the Sauvageau family. More than twenty years ago, convinced of the contribution of nurses to the well-being of older people, the family chose to support their professional development by creating a scholarship fund dedicated to the Chair’s students whose work focuses on nursing care for older people and their families.

The sustainability and functioning of the Chair also are among their concerns. Thus, the instigator of this fund, Mr. Guy Sauvageau Sr., and members of his family are actively involved in the activities of the Chair as members of its management committee.

Since 2021, the scholarship fund is named after the instigator of the fund, Mr. Guy Sauvageau Sr., and his wife, Mrs. Monique Sauvageau.

This scholarship is awarded based on criteria approved by the Chair's scientific committee and at the discretion of the Chairholder.
