“Ce n’est pas la joie, tous ces cris !” is the title of an article published in January 2018 by Anne Bourbonnais, the chairholder, in the journal Perspective infirmière.

It presents an innovative intervention approach aimed to improve the well-being of older people living with Alzheimer’s disease or an associated disorder who manifest vocal behaviours. It also describes the results of a pilot study on this approach.

This article highlights that vocal behaviours are not a pathological reaction, that they have meanings and that it is possible to apply specific interventions tailored to people who scream in order to improve their well-being.
