We have learned of the passing of Mr. Alban D’Amours, former president of Desjardins Group from 2000 to 2008. The entire team at the Research Chair in Nursing Care for Older People and Their Families would like to offer their sincere condolences to Mr. D’Amours’ family and loved ones. He played a key role in the early days of the philanthropic Chair.
In 2002, under his leadership, Desjardins Group’s financial contribution to the Chair was an essential step in ensuring its sustainability. In fact, until 2015, the Chair was known as the Desjardins Chair in Nursing Care for Older People and Their Families. Since then, the Desjardins Award for the New Generation in Nursing Care for Older People and Their Families has been created in recognition of Desjardins Group’s 15-year commitment to the Chair. This award recognizes the contribution of a Chair’s student to improving care for older people and their family care partners.
Mr. D’Amours’ forward-thinking vision and philanthropic commitment have led to many achievements within the Chair, contributing to the well-being and improved quality of life of older people and their families.
Thank you very much!
