In June 2020, Anne Bourbonnais became the first Canada Research Chair awarded to a professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the Université de Montréal. The renewal of the Canada Research Chair in Care for Older People for a second five-year term demonstrates the relevance and excellence of her research on the care of older adults and their families.

  • Her research program 2025-2030 will improve the well-being of older people living with a major neurocognitive disorder (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease) by addressing critical clinical and ethical issues for them: the manifestation of responsive behaviours (e.g., vocal or aggressive)
  • the presence of a neurocognitive disorder in addition to a severe mental health problem
  • their end-of-life situation
  • the meanings of neurocognitive disorders in different cultures that influence practices.

“As the population continues to age, the renewal of my Canada Research Chair will allow me to conduct a research program that promotes respectful, dignified care for people who are often neglected in our society. It will also support the training of the next generation of researchers in this field,” says Professor Anne Bourbonnais.

Congratulations to Professor Bourbonnais!
